I love to visit new places and explore its history. I enjoy writing as well, although I’m not in line for the Booker prize anytime soon.

I went on a road trip with some friends at the end of 2007. One of the guys on the trip was Roy Keeler, who is a well known South African artist. Another was his cousin, Nigel Whitehead who owns a framing shop and sells art in Cape Town, South Africa.

As Roy was planning to do a series of paintings on our trip, and my brother had the cooler box in complete control, I decided to write a diary of our trip by way of contribution. The idea was not just a record of our memories, but also a little background into what we were looking at.

One night, Roy mentioned that he wanted to get the addresses of galleries in Namibia, as he planned to do a series of paintings on our road trip and would like to exhibit them.

I’d like to write the quirky little stories about places that are worth visiting in my part of the world. I’m going to have some fun doing this. I’m also going to drink a lot of beer doing the research.

So if you go visit some of the places I’m writing about, I’ll give you some facts that will dazzle you librarian friends, and may one day help you in a TV quiz show. I’ll also put on some art about the place. Hopefully you’ll buy some and then we can do another trip. If not, I hope I made you laugh.
